The Sacred Gate of Life and Lunar Memory

Utero is a handmade linocut print by the Sicilian artist L’Aita—an icon that merges anatomy, myth, and cosmic symbolism into a singular, visionary glyph. The uterus is transformed into a temple of life, crowned by lunar phases and pierced by ancestral gazes.

An all-seeing eye watches from the center, keeper of intuitive knowledge and sacred cycles. The horns curve like protective arms, adorned with serpent-like feathers—echoes of ancient goddesses and forgotten cosmologies. Above, the moon waxes and wanes in four red faces, a dance of fertility and renewal.

The lower portion bleeds drops of red—life, pain, creation—while the hidden face at the base looks back with serenity, as if to remind us: creation is sacred, and within blood, there is power.

Printed by hand on natural Nepalese paper, each edition is unique, alive with the texture of the material and the ritual gesture of the artist’s press. L’Aita’s work blends craft and spirit, anatomy and symbol, in a talismanic object for those who honor the divine feminine.
